Spring Cleaning Your Public Speaking Skills

What a fun meeting today.  The theme was Spring Clean, traditionally, a time to give your house a thorough top to bottom clean.  Let’s apply this mentality to deep clean our speaking skills and try to complete a pathway level within the next few months.

Warm up Leader Jemma got us out of our seats to do a Joe Wicks type routine, now that really was a warm up!  Answering an 11th hour call for help, Sylvester took the role of grammarian posing the word “blooming”, this was used once by our guest time keeper, Tess.  Some good phrases noted were, “Go Go Go” by Chloe, while describing her love of the sea, and “believe, enjoy, sleigh” by Donovan, who used the analogy of a 380 mile cycle ride in France to portray the obstacle of the mind one often faces during their journey to becoming better speakers.

We had 3 guests, Tess excelling in her role as time-keeper and Amina providing a very further evaluation of Chloe.

During table topics we learnt that; home is where the heart is, you do not need to dust off your passport to have a fun vacation.  One new member was encouraged by the helpful nature of other toastmasters, then got worried because he thought he had to pay for help.  No, we learn by showing and are happy to do that.

The next meeting is 21st April.
